On to Myrtle Beach

We left our anchorage at Pawleys Island and motored over to Heritage Plantation Marina to have coffee with Jim McGillis and catchup on the latest news.

We motored up the Waccamaw River which has so much tannin in the water that it looks like Coca-Cola. This leaves a mustache on the bow of the boat which we had just cleaned off last week and made the hull all white and clean.  Not anymore!   The weather was beautiful, sunny with clear blue skies.

There were lots of Osprey nests along the way.

We arrived at the Myrtle Beach Yacht Club at 3:30 after a long somewhat stressful passage through Myrtle Beach through the "Rock Pile" this section has limestone ledges on both sides and it is very important to stay in the middle of the channel.  When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to find that the rate for Boat US members at the MBYC is only $1.00 a foot! We decided to stay two days to catch up on boat chores and do some shopping.

Jim decided to take a break from cooking and we had a fabulous dinner at Clarke's Seafood and Chop House. Debbie had the Salmon Bella (topped with crab, panko and tomatoes)and Jim had the Short Ribs with a basil tomato jam over garlic mashed potatoes.  Both were delicious and accompanied with an excellent Caesar salad and a house salad for Debbie with a very good she crab soup.  We couldn't finish our main courses and boxed up the rest for lunch today.  As tempting as they looked we passed on dessert.
Jim unloaded the motorcycle onto the dock and went for groceries. We also made trip to West Marine for new speakers for the flybridge. The new speakers got installed this afternoon and Debbie worked hard on polishing and waxing all of the stainless rails on the front half of the boat.  There is never nothing to do when you own a boat!
