Second Day on

We woke to a beautiful sunny day on the Santee River, a little cooler and still a bit windy.  Our first stop was Georgetown, SC, a charming historical town. Abby needed to go for a walk so Debbie complied and Abby was happy to come along.  Abby is pretty good with a dog grass pad all of 18" x27, she circles a lot but then her aim is pretty good.  Pooping not so much but she is good with once a day and will let us know if an emergency is pending!

Here is an example of one of the many historical houses:

We docked at the shrimp dock at Independent Seafood and purchased 6 pounds of jumbo shrimp at $9.99 a pound. Shrimp for dinner tonight.

Getting away from the dock proved to be a challenge with the wind blowing us hard onto the dock but we made it and anchored over night just off of Pawleys island.  We will meet our friend Jim McGillis tomorrow for coffee in the morning at Heritage Plantation. We had some issues with the depth sounder today, it would stop working and needed to be rebooted to get the depth.  We may need to change out the depth sounder module to make it work properly long term. We also spent some time learning how to program the new Sirius/FM radio we installed last week, one of us pushing buttons and the other reading the manual. That was fun....Then we moved on to the AIS transceiver.  AIS tells you if you are on a collision course with another vessel and also gives you their name and description so you can hail them as necessary.  It's a very cool tool, but again lots to read to maximize its usefulness.

For dinner Jim made shrimp and pasta using the fresh shrimp we purchased .... yum!
