Stormy night and windy Day

We left the yard yesterday around 3:00 PM and made it back to St Johns Yacht Harbor our home for the last year and a half. We did't feel like going back in as we had said our goodbyes the day before and settled the bill.  So we anchored out off of the marina where Alan and Bev anchored when they visited this winter. There was a severe weather warning for possible tornados and hail with high winds.  We had not tried our new 125# Mantus anchor yet and when we deployed it, it caught right away and even with both engines in reverse it held immediately.  Good thing because it blew and rained HARD for over an hour with thunder and lightening. I sat on the flybridge watching to be sure we were not moving.  The anchor did it's job and the winds died down somewhat. We slept well and in the morning went into the marina to fill with water and walk Abby.  We were underway today for the first day of our loop adventure and departed at 9:05AM.  The journey has begun!

The day was windy and the boat handled well. Stabilizers make a big difference when we cross open waters like Charleston harbor.  It was sunny which made the day pleasant.  We stopped in McClellanville and took on 600 gallons of fuel.  We had somewhat of an exciting arrival as we had to tie to a 35' boat to take on fuel as there was no other room at the dock. The wind pushed us straight onto the other boat but we had fenders ready and there was no damage to either boat.  Water was pretty skinny and a south bound sportsfish warned us of shallow water ahead.  By the time we finished fueling the tide has risen enough that we didn't have any issues.

We are anchored out in the South Santee River. It is beautiful, secluded and peaceful here in the marshland.  Time to relax and have a cocktail.
