Starting the Loop - almost

We found some water leaking into the lazerette the day before we were going to start our journey. Dennis our friend and diver/mechanic/Mr Fix it dove on the boat and put some 4200 over where the leak was on the port trim tab. This slowed it from a river to a trickle but we were not comfortable leaving for a year with a leaky boat.  So we left St Johns Marina yesterday to go back to Marine Propulsion to have the problem fixed right.  It was determined that the wood the trim tabs were mounted to was rotten and needed to be replaced.

We ended up sleeping in the Travel lift last night and completing the repairs this morning.

The repairs included removing the trim tabs and wood, and replacing it with Koosa board impregnated with epoxy and then caulking it with lots of 4200.  We screwed the tabs into the fiberglass and then through bolted them into the hull.

Of course Jim is very "hands on" when it come to the boat and he got covered in 4200 and black antifouling

We were splashed around 3 and made our way back up to anchor off of St Johns our old home for more than 1 1/2 years.
The weather prediction is for high winds, hail and the possibility of tornados.
