Pickens Landing to Leroy Anchorage 10/20/17

Another typical day.  Things will be changing some as we get closer to Mobile.  Tides, currents and salt water.  We need to make a few adjustments to the boat when we get to salt water.  One being that when we are in fresh water we use the water from the river to fill and flush the toilets.  Once in salt water that still works but there is a smell associated with using salt water and we prefer to use fresh water from the water tank to flush with.  I figure we fill up about 100 gallons of waste water every week and that means we are using 99 gallons of fresh water to flush toilets.  If water is not an issue its not a problem.  Maybe in the Bahama's where water can be $.50 or more a gallon we will go to sea water to flush with.  I have been speaking with Water Makers the manufacturer of our water maker and I will need to order some supplies to make sure everything is in good shape so we can make our own water from sea water. I also need to find a refrigeration guy to look at our aft deck freezer to get it working like it should.  Always a project or ten on a boat.  I'm not complaining though the boat has run great for over 4200 miles now since leaving Charleston in April.

Look who we found swimming across the river

He/she made it to the other side.  Just a baby

Cell service is spotty along this stretch and sometimes you just might need to make a call!!
Tonight's anchorage had a long beach and we raced Abby up and down the beach three times to get the edge off of her.  She is much more relaxed when she is tired.  The only down side is now she seems to be liking the water more and lays down up to the middle of her belly and is covered with sand when she gets back in the dingy and boat.  She gets a mini shower at the end of the beach visit and Debbie gets pretty dirty too.
