Ottawa to Martha's Cove (Cushing QC)

We left Ottawa Tuesday morning and headed down to the Ottawa River.  We were serenaded by a Bagpiper as we waited for the locks to open at the blue line under the bridge. Luckily they did the downbound lockage first and we were down and out in an hour and a half.  Nice locktenders and only one other boat with us.  We cruised down the Ottawa for many hours and had lunch underway as we passed Montebello and Hawksbury.  Around 3:00 we pulled into Martha's Cove a very special place for me as I used to spend many weekends for many year's there with great friends.  First there was Alan and his wife then Lawrence and Jose bought it from Alan 26 years ago.  We would go to Montebello at Thanksgiving and always stop at Martha's Cove to say our goodbyes for the season as the locks closed for the season after Thanksgiving.. Many a great party was had there and I will always cherish this place. We spent a peaceful evening there with muskrats swimming in the bay and no sounds at all except for the occasional passing car in the night.
