Beardrop Harbor 9/2/17

We awoke to another beautiful day and had a leisurely breakfast before starting some chores.  We were running low on water so Bill has a pump that pumps from the lake and we connected our water line to it, not to fill the tanks but to supply water to the water system so we could wash all of the dishes from the night before, have two showers and do two loads of laundry.  I need to get a pump like this.

Bill worked on compounding and waxing a section of Seas the Day and also was kind enough to climb down in the forward bilge to take a look at the float switch for the bilge pump.  It had been sticking on and we found a small plastic thimble looking thingy that seemed to be causing the problem. I vacuumed all of the water out before he got in and it was fixed quickly.  Thanks Bill, cause I don't fit and Debbie is still handicapped.

Debbie did laundry and vacuumed the cabins while Bill and I worked on the bilge. After this was completed Bill and Jennifer went kayaking and I did some maintenance work on the generator.  Changed the zinc and tightened the fan belt.  For the last few days I have been unable to start the generator from the electrical panel and have had to go down to the engine room to start it.  So I followed all of the wires and checked connections in the engine room panel and then took apart the electrical panel to check the wires and switches there.  As with many things on a boat I'm not sure what I did but now it works again.  I guess there is a questionable connection somewhere and I suspect its in the electrical panel.  Be happy for what works!

I also added water to all of the lead acid batteries in the engine room and checked wire connections on the batteries.  Lots of little jobs and everything is working well again.

Bill let me try a metal cleaner that seems to work well called Star Clean.  Very easy to apply and remove and does a nice job of cleaning up stainless.  I also tried some Never Dull which really cleans up the black rubber part of the rub rail.
Abby wanted to come over to Seas the Day but she is chicken and doesn't like to jump from one swim platform to the other.  Bill and Jennifer moved the dingy so she could get in the dingy and be transported over.  They are trying to convince her to jump.  This went on for 10 minutes before she finally made it over

Jump Abby jump
Dinner tonight was steak aboard Seas the Day with a nice salad and Jennifer made a very good chocolate dessert.  Kinda like a brownie or the molten chocolate cake that you would get in a molten sundae.  Dense cake with a gooey center and very chocolaty. Delicious!  Sorry we ate it all before we took any picture.

So all in all a busy and constructive day with nice company, beautiful scenery and good food and wine.  Tonight is our last supper with the crew of Seas the Day and we will miss them as we will head off towards Drummond Island, Mackinaw and then across to Escanaba for next weekend.  We have very much enjoyed our month of touring the North Channel and Georgian Bay.  Thank-you.

We finished the night off with some dog time and an episode of Homeland.  Abby lies between us on the sofa so we can both pet her at the same time.  She seems to like it a lot!
