Beardrop Harbor to Drummond Island 9/3/17

Today we awoke to our last day with the crew of Seas the Day.  I took Abby for her morning circumnavigation of the island outside of Beardrop and then returned to the boat and breakfast on Seas the Day with waffles and homemade sausage.  We usually eat breakfast a little later and this also counts as lunch most of the time, because there is so much and it's so good.

We hauled anchors around 10:30 and waved goodbye.  We have now spent about 3 months on off travelling with Bill and Sandy and sometimes Jennifer too.  It has been great and they are an excellent gang to travel with.  We will miss you.  Bill has become very attached to Abby and I'm sure they will miss each other too.

We traveled across open water for most of the day and there was very little navigation required and the autopilot did most of the work.  The day was crisp and for the most part sunny with 1-2 foot waves on the stern.  We pulled into Drummond Island and backed into our slip.  Sometimes you do a good job docking and sometimes it not so pretty.  Today it went well.  The lady from Customs came over and checked our papers and told us that we could be fined for having fresh fruit and vegetables on board.  I asked if we should throw them out and she told us no worries just be aware for next time.  We needed to do some groceries and I walked over to the office to see about getting a ride to the store.  A guy from Holland MI stopped in an ATV and I asked him how far it was to the store and he said jump in I'll take you. He wanted to wash his ATV and told me he would drop me at the store and come back when he finished washing.  We got to the carwash and it was closed and when we got to the store they had closed early because of the holiday, so we both struck out.  I thanked him for the ride and went back to the boat empty handed.  Maybe tomorrow.

Debbie and I had a quiet dinner aboard and watched Homeland.
