Port Severn to Bayport in Midland 8/4/17

You want nerve racking?  Look how close the marks are together going under the Hwy 400 bridge
We departed on the second down lockage after breakfast.  This is one of the smallest locks in the Trent Severn and there was only us in the lock.  When we exited below there were two boats on the blue line blocking half of the channel and making our exit very tight.  The captain of the first boat was on his bow with boat hook in hand and lots of fenders out and the lock hands were on the bulwark watching the starboard side.  We made it through with inches to spare and then tackled the Highway 400 bridge.  Its crazy how tight the channel is here with the marks barely 20 feet wide and very close together the other way too.  We made it and I don't think I hit any of the marks but more importantly didn't hit bottom.  We then cruised through Potato Channel another notorious location for biting props.  In fact when we arrived a Bay Port later in the afternoon there was a looper ChrisCraft that had not been as lucky and was on the hard having his props fixed.

The ride up through Honey Harbor and around the top of Beausoliel Island was beautiful and not as busy. If the weather had been better and on a weekend, the traffic would have been wicked.  We stopped just outside and anchored for lunch off of Frying Pan Bay.  Inside was full of boats and we wouldn't be there for long so a quick anchor, lunch and then we continued our way down to Midland.  A storm had been brewing for a while and hit us just as we were approaching Bay Port Marina.  We were advised to stand off until the storm had passed and we did.  Good Decision!!  The dock we were assigned was damaged by a large boat breaking loose from its cleats and pushing against another boat causing the finger dock to break. While we were standing off the wind blew so hard I thought it would blow out the windows on the Bimini but everything held and nothing was damaged.  We were told the winds were clocked at 80 mph in the harbor. We proceeded to the fuel dock for water and 200 gallons of fuel to get us back into the states in September.  Our new assigned dock was away from Chuck and Bill's boats.  Never the less a very nice facility and we were able to join up with everyone after we secured the boat.

Brad and Angie with Debbie looking at Pam and Daniel's wedding album.  So much fun in Hawaii, congratulations you two
The crew for the last week.  Thanks for all the help on the canal.
